Getting Closer to Doing

Using reality to become aligned with the present.

Time to think and take stock whilst staying home during Covid19 has been a great gift. I've spent time revisiting  my life aims, priorities and choices. Whilst it's is not easy to look home truths face on it's definitely worthwhile. Life has a funny way of handing out what we need at just the right time.

I tweaked Inner Art Vision today and  felt simultaneously inspired as well as surprised whilst doing so. I absolutely adhere to each 'vision' and use these on a daily basis for decision making. They keep me feeling on track, and provide a shining light to travel towards. I was surprised too though, at how looking so much towards the future can leave the present out of the limelight. Whole years skate by and when one goal is achieved it's onto the next. What happened to the enjoyment of now? And am I remembering to contribute rather than conquer?

Part of this reflection was from watching Michael Moore's documentary 'Planet of the Humans', and realizing just how fortunate we are to still have earth beneath our feet, sunshine on our faces and wind in our hair. Covid19 demonstrated just how quickly things we take for granted can disappear.  I thought about our children, and our grandchildren's futures, and contemplated my contribution to this. Reality is things are out of our control. When we accept time and circumstances are out of our hands, all we are left with is now.

Treasure. Savour. Appreciate. Embrace.

Let's not continually do 'blue sky thinking', 'vision boards' and 'projections'! Let's be involved with getting closer to doing, closer to reality. Jump out of our heads and sink down into the present.

What if there wasn't a massive PLAN, and we make good decisions anyway? What if we take little steps right now and trust the process will unfold? What if we went with our first instinct without triple checking?

When our art practice is on form, we embrace a trusting and unfolding process in our artwork. We make a mark, apply the paint, bend the clay...and we don't have to have a guarantee that all is well, we just do it anyway for the love of experience.

So here's to 'doing it anyway'... for the sake of being true and embracing life experiences more fully. When reopening Inner Art Studio this will be my new shining light.
